Hello to all my Groupies.
I have a lot to fill you in with since you last heard from me and I realise that some of you have been waiting for a while to receive this newsletter.
I welcome the newest members to the Groupies Club and it is through their enthusiasm and constant communications with many of my old friends that I have decided to start sending out my newsletter again.
Over the last few years I have been extremely busy having done 480 shows in 2006 and 380 shows in 2007.
I had an accident last year when I fell off the back of a truck while moving and unfortunately have damaged my right arm and it can't be repaired. Thankfully I can still play guitar and perform.
I have moved away from Sydney and now live in Nelson Bay region of New South Wales.
I continue to travel overseas each year and have now done over 30 trips to various places and festivals in New Zealand over many years.
The HORSHAM FESTIVAL was held in April and was a great success and I have been booked to do it again next year on 20-22nd March 2009.
It's a good one to put on your festival agenda.
While continuing to attend the BAY OF ISLANDS COUNTRY ROCK FESTIVAL at Paihia for the last 9 years I have also been a guest artist at the Wellington (NZ) Country Music Festival in 2007.
Most of my newest groupies will have already met my new lady, Nerallie, who comes to all my shows and is a great help with my product and as a roadie.
In many different ways she is a great support to me.
2)CURRENT NEWS
Last year I released the First Episode in a DVD Series called "THE LOOK AT THAT SERIES" and this DVD features all background footage I filmed while I was twice in the North Island of New Zealand in 2007.
It contains 20 tracks, which are a mixture of 14 songs and me larking around with some yarns. It also contains 2 SPECIAL FEATURES, which take you on two tourist trips around the North Island of New Zealand. ( Refer Back of Product Guide, enclosed)
From May 7th 2008 till June 3rd I was not only doing the Bay of Islands Festival again but also did some shows around Hamilton in the North Island and then flew to Queenstown and for two weeks. Combined with work this was the first holiday I have had in many years. Nerallie and her two children made the trip and a great time was had by all. While there I filmed new footage for EPISODE TWO in the series. This I hope to have released next year. This 4 week tour was the longest tour I've done in New Zealand. On the south island I was fortunate enough to be asked to do a show in Balclutha. It was nice to see and work with my old friends at GORE and Balclutha.
Upon returning I was one of many artists who took part in the PORT STEPHENS BLUE WATER COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL over the June Long Weekend. I performed 5 different shows to very appreciative audiences though out the Port Stephens area.
My shows were at the Soldiers Point Bowling Club, Fingal Bay Sports and Recreation Club, Raymond Terrace Bowling Club and the Raymond Terrace Open Celebration in the Riverside Stage. I also performed on the NOVA CRUISES from Newcastle to Raymond Terrace and back again and this turned into a party on water. My good friend Col Thomson also invited me to do a guest spot in his show at the Game Fishing Club on the Sunday night.
Sunday afternoon while watching another great entertainer and friend, Rodney Vincent perform, I received a frantic phone call from my agent saying there had been a muck up and could I please go and entertain at Maitland Leagues club as there were 40 people waiting for me to perform at a show that I had been told had been cancelled. I thank them for the support and for waiting for me to turn up. The next week there were approx 70 people there for me to entertain.
This led to the start of a regular Sunday afternoon spot.
3)UPCOMING EVENTS
BIG NEWS. MILDURA 2008.
Unfortunately I WILL NOT be going to MILDURA this year as I have not been successful in my application to attend.
To all those friends who I have great pleasure in seeing there and who eagerly attend my appearances in Mildura I will surely miss you and hope that you have a great time at the festival. If you are disappointed in me not being there feel free to let the organisers know by mail, phone or email. Web site www.milduracountrymusic.com.au . If you attend the festival you can tell them in person whilst there.
Hopefully it is only for one year and that I will be invited again in 2009. I am very disappointed and will miss all my friends.
ADELAIDE 2008.
I will be making a surprise appearance in ADELAIDE on Friday 10th October for a big JOHN DENVER PRODUCTION show at the Somerton Bowling Club.
On my back I will be doing two shows in Horsham on 16th and 17th. If required please contact me for details.
I will be a guest artist at the LEETON FESTIVAL on the Sunday 2nd November.
I will be doing a guest appearance at BALGOWLAH RSL Club on Sunday 9th November at their regular Sunday Country Afternoon. This is to be their Xmas show. 1 - 5pm
